New Apartment, Corn Maze, and Pumpkins
Nov 13th, 2008 by Louisa

We decided that we wanted to pick our own pumpkins for Halloween. There is a very pretty farm about 10 miles from our apartment, Rock Creek Farm, which has several pick your own pumpkin fields, three corn mazes, caramel apples, and animals. Since our schedules were rather hectic on the days leading up to Halloween, we went to the farm on November 1.

After finding our pumpkins, we headed up to the corn mazes. The three mazes have a total of several miles of trails, and we had fun navigating without the map which they conveniently provide. However, we did find ourselves going in circles once or twice.
After wandering through all the mazes, we went over to look at the animals. There were several mules and tiny ponies, rabbits, pigs, goats or sheep, and a baby brahma bull. While Louisa petted the sheep, she resisted the urge to pet the baby bull (even though he was really cute). We finished the trip by sharing a very yummy, homemade caramel apple that had also been coated in m&m’s.

After resting for the afternoon, we decided to continue our yearly tradition of carving pumpkins. Sadly, it didn’t take long for my “mad pumpkin” to start to cave in. I guess that’s what happens when most of the supporting structure is carved out.
