Dear Microsoft,
I just wanted to thank you for waiting so long to release your Daylight Savings Time patches for Windows and Exchange Server. Even though the new law was passed way back in 2005, you decided that it would be a great idea to wait until late January 2007 to release your adjustments. Yes, that is less than two months before the new Daylight Savings Time goes into place on March 11th. [Possible edit coming soon because the patch still isn't complete.] I also want to thank you for a patch process as painful as possible and for releasing a patch that may make the Exchange store unmountable… a very nice touch. Oh yeah, thanks for not releasing a patch for Windows 2000 too, that is a great idea. At least there are tools available to fix that OS manually. Oh well, here’s hoping that the late night maintenance doesn’t go too poorly, and that the fixes work as planned!
Your Pal,
Tony
OK, so that patching process really isn’t that bad. [OK, so maybe it is. See possible edit in main paragraph.] I am just curious about why they waited so long to release this patch. Because of the wait, many people will have already made appointments for the period between when the new DST starts and when DST would have started before the law. Just my 2 cents…
